Member Spotlight: A Conversation with New GPSA Membership Committee Chair Randy Rogers

By Kevin Broom, Vice President, Marketing & Communications

Randy Rogers joined midstream nearly two decades ago and is a self-proclaimed life-long student of procurement and supply chain management. He’s currently Director, Supply Chain for GPSA member Enerflex Ltd., and his career spans over 30 years in the oil and gas and power generation industries.

Rogers has been associated with GPA Midstream for many years, a regular convention attendee for the past six years, and an active participant in the GPSA Membership Committee for the past three. Recently, he volunteered to chair that committee and lead the association’s efforts to expand membership.

Earlier in 2025, Rogers met with Midstream News to discuss his career, work with GPSA, and the value he sees as an active participant in GPA Midstream and GPSA.

What brought you into the midstream industry?

Randy Rogers: I was working for a company that served refining and midstream customers.  Having exposure to both, I was able to see the fast-paced nature and the strong relationships formed on the midstream side.  I knew the midstream was where I belong.

What kept you in the midstream?

RR: The people. The suppliers, operators, clients, and everyone in between. I absolutely love the interaction and energy that midstream brings. I am blessed to work for a company that has a strong midstream presence.

What's a memorable professional experience?

RR: One season in particular stands out: at a former company, every quarter, my boss and I visited multiple global offices — China, India, Kuala Lumpur — over a 20–25 day span. We slept on planes, offices, field sites. Looking back, it was chaotic but transformative. Negotiating contracts globally, vetting suppliers, and interfacing with governmental bodies exposed me to virtually every segment of the industry.

What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the midstream?

RR: I remember being the youngest guy on a project or in attendance at GPA events. As someone who’s seen the industry evolve, I notice retirement waves hitting our workforce hard. But younger talent isn’t entering at the same pace — maybe due to evolving energy narratives and politics. We must strengthen outreach, communication, and advocacy to draw emerging talent. That’s vital for the future of both our industry and this association.

When did you begin volunteering at GPA Midstream and GPSA?

RR: Three years ago, Brent Jasper invited me to join a GPSA committee. I wasn’t sure I could contribute — but that leap changed everything. As a participant I learned; as a committee member, I built relationships that eventually became deep friendships. That’s what kept me involved.

So, Brent got you involved. Why have you stayed? Why do you continue to be involved?

RR: I’ve attended GPA convention for years, so I was involved to a degree as a participant, but not as an active member. Since joining the committee, the relationships I have built have been life changing. It goes so much beyond working with someone or seeing them at a convention.  These are friends now. These are people that I value their relationship and working with them.

What does your committee do for the industry?

RR: The GPSA Membership Committee reaches out and shares the benefits of GPSA membership and what we offer to the oil and gas community. When I’m talking with a potential member, I go through the training opportunities that are available, the advocacy groups, the networking opportunities — it's unsurpassed by any other organization that I've been a part of.

Why did you volunteer to become Chair of the GPSA Membership Committee?

RR: I was approached by a member of the GPSA leadership team, that I hold a great deal of respect for, and asked to step up to the challenge. It was an honor to be considered, and I am excited to serve in this capacity.

How has involvement with GPA Midstream and GPSA enhanced your career?

RR: There is so much knowledge inside the midstream community and the GPA and GPSA provide a forum to share ideas, debate topics, and build upon this knowledge.

At first, it was just exposure to hundreds of suppliers at the Conventions and symposiums.  Now, I am tapping into these resources such as the engineering data, research reports, and training materials available. Also, we talked before about the relationships built through the events. They have been invaluable. At the Conventions, you get to put a name to the face of a supplier you may have worked with for years and hold a face-to-face conversation.  That's probably been the greatest benefit to my career — the one-on-one meetings I've been able to have with suppliers, with our customer base and with potential partners.

What's something you wish people outside of the industry knew about midstream?

RR: The value that natural gas brings to the world. I wish more people could see what Let’s Clear the Air is putting out because it helps people really understand what the midstream and natural gas brings to society.

What's one item you cannot live without?

RR: One item? My phone. It’s my connection to my family, to my work. I'm working on my phone right now. My laptop is in the truck, but my phone is always with me. It’s my link to the world.

What's a perfect day outside the office for you?

RR: Spending time with family, ideally outdoors — maybe kayaking, camping, or hiking by a lake. That’s my ideal way to reset.

Final question, what's a fun fact about you that people would never guess?

RR: I volunteer with a ministry called OJT Tulsa that supports job seekers of all types. Whether it’s a career professional that just experienced a layoff or a first-time job seeker fresh out of high school, this organization provides encouragement and help navigating the modern job-hunting experience. It’s a rewarding experience to help people through this tough time.

Bonus fact: I’m a scuba diving fanatic. I’ve dived at nine of Cousteau’s Top 11 global dive spots — and can’t wait to explore the rest.
