The 2026 GPA Midstream Technical Conference last week was a reminder of something our industry knows but does not say loudly or frequently enough: midstream is innovative, growing, exciting, and built for the long term. Attendance reached a new high, surpassing the record set in 2019. Strong turnout is more than a number, it’s a sign of energy, commitment, and confidence in where our industry is headed.

The midstream industry has spent decades solving one of energy's hardest problems — how to move molecules reliably, efficiently, and at scale. The shift toward electrification doesn't change that mission; it expands it. The operators who understand both sides of the energy equation, molecules and electrons, are the ones who will define how large-scale power gets delivered over the next 20 years.

GPA Midstream was joined by American Petroleum Institute and American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers in responding to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration's request for comment on Section 4 of its Pipeline Safety Enforcement Procedures. The joint comments cross-reference previously submitted comments and focus on specific issues that would improve transparency and efficiency in the inspection and enforcement process.

GPA Midstream and other energy trade associations signed a joint letter urging leadership in the US House of Representatives to advance legislation that modernizes the Clean Air Act.
