GPA Midstream wraps successful 2023 Technical Conference

The 2023 GPA Midstream Technical Conference concluded April 6 after a flurry of presentations, committee meetings and networking events.

With the energy industry poised for a major upheaval in the years ahead, keynote speaker Jackie Schirmer, Senior Vice President, Engineering and Reliability, Phillips 66, opened the three-day conference with an address about navigating change. Schirmer shared about personal and professional changes she's handled throughout her life and offered suggestions on how attendees could apply lessons she's learned over the years.

The Technical Conference brought together the industry's technical community by offering educational sessions and networking opportunities. Attendance topped 250 individuals at the 4-star Hilton property with waterfront dining and entertainment.

Educational sessions included critical industry issues including measuring and mitigating methane emissions, materials best practices, data management, pipeline operations and integrity, facilities design and management, and much more. The conference was host to Lunch & Learns devoted to technical aspects of specific equipment.

Networking events included an opening cocktail reception, and a game night that included tabletop shuffleboard, darts, cornhole and giant-sized Connect-Four.

GPA Midstream technical groups met during the conference, including the Facilities Committee, Emissions Committee, Pipeline Committee, Integrity Committee, and Analysis Committee. The event closed with a Technical Community Meeting.
