Industry Recognition

The Hanlon Award is the most prestigious recognition and highest honor of the midstream industry, and is one of the ranking awards of the oil and gas industry.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals for exceptional efforts and achievements over their career that have led to lasting benefits to GPA Midstream and to the midstream industry.

The Donald L. Katz Award is named in honor of the esteemed Professor Emeritus of the University of Michigan and was initiated in 1985 to recognize outstanding accomplishments in midstream research and technology, or for excellence in engineering education.

The Recognition Award is bestowed upon individuals whose exceptional careers include a long association with the midstream industry.

The Citation for Service Award recognizes individuals for significant contributions to the midstream industry through GPA Midstream participation.

The Committee Leader of the Year Award was initiated in 2003 and honors outstanding leadership of a GPA Midstream committee, subcommittee or chapter, which has led to the advancement of the midstream industry during the previous year.

The Committee Volunteer of the Year Award was initiated in 2003 and is given to recognize outstanding committee participation and significant contributions to the advancement of the midstream industry during the previous year.

Company Safety Awards recognize GPA Midstream member companies for outstanding safety performance in comparison to similar companies within the association’s membership. Award divisions are determined by a range of midstream operational workhours.

In 2025, eight companies won this award across four divisions.

The GPA Midstream Facility Safety Award recognizes facilities for operating without a lost time accident or fatality within a specific interval of time or workhours milestone. Facility Safety Awards were not presented for 2024 or 2025 as the GPA Midstream Personal and Process Safety Committee works to update criteria for future awards.

In 2023, 126 facilities won a safety award.

The GPA Midstream Chair’s Award for Safety Improvement recognizes companies for improving their safety performance and is determined by a company’s ability to demonstrate continuous improvement by reducing its number of recordable incidents.

GPA Midstream Perfect Record Awards recognize member companies with no “lost time accidents” from January 1 through December 31 of a given year.

The GPSA Safety Awards Program recognizes companies that uphold the importance of safety.

GPA Midstream’s Environmental Excellence Award recognizes GPA Midstream companies for demonstrating initiative and leadership in managing their environmental affairs in midstream sector activities and GPSA companies that develop successful, innovative environmental solutions.
